Checking Account Archives

I’m beginning to think that debit cards are just as bad as credit cards. I always hear of people complaining about how much overdraft charges are when they’re checking account goes into the negative. Have any of you experienced going into the negative more than once … maybe a lot? If you did, how did you deal with the problem?

I want to have my paychecks direct deposited into my roommates checking account. Will banks allow that?

I’m going to be staying with a family member in a different state for a few months to a year. I won’t become a resident of that state but I would like to have a checking account there so I can have a debit card on hand. Is that possible? Or is it possible to keep my checking account here and then use my current debit card there? I need a way to deposit checks from working while I’m there and be able to use that money for food, gas, etc…

I live in Texas right now and have a checking account with JP Morgan Chase Bank. I may be moving to Bellevue Washington soon, and there doesn’t seem to be many JP Morgan Chase Banks there. I know Chase bank recently bought out Washington Mutual. Would I have to transfer my checking account to Washington Mutual, or would I be able to keep my Chase checking account and just make my deposits and withdraws at a local Washington Mutual bank?

I was reported to chexsystems by wells fargo for having an overdrafted account. I need to open a checking account but cant seem to find one. Know of any in San Jose/ Santa Clara Area?

Even if it isn’t the bank you use?

Do bank employees have access to some country-wide system of checking account information? I am concerned someone is looking at my account information because I wrote them a check and they said they were a banker.

I’ve heard that there were, but I don’t know which do. I’d like to be able to open a checking account and not have to wait for them to send me the debit card. Are there any banks that do that?
